MAC 5" Superior Paring Knife
This 5" paring knife was designed to function both as a paring knife and as a small utility knife. The up-swept handle and longer blade allows greater knuckle clearance so that it can be used on the cutting board to chop and slice small items. The narrow blade profile is still small enough to comfortably peel/pare.
Paring knives are designed for paring or peeling fruits and vegetables. They work best in your hands above the cutting board and therefore are designed with narrower blades. Knives in the 2½-4" range are generally preferred for working in your hands but 4-5" versions are more practical for use on the cutting board as small utility knives for slicing small fruits and vegetables.
