Matiz Gallego octopus is harvested off the coast of Galicia, in North Western Spain, known for it's exceptional seafood. TOld-world traditional harvesting methods are used to respect biological cycles of the species, as well as avoiding harm to other sea creatures. In this case, octopus are caught by hand with nets.
Once harvested, the octopus is prepared by hand using master cannery know-how, and then packed with olive oil and salt to produce a product that is moist, tender, and uncommonly flavorful.
Matiz Pulpo is delicious eaten right out of the can. Or, prepare a quick appetizer by lightly frying the octopus in it's own olive oil, topping with Spanish pimenton, and serving with crusty bread.
