In 1922 Joseph C. Weber and John Heintz started Heintz & Weber Co. at the Broadway Market in Buffalo, and quickly gained notoriety and success supplying pickles, olives, and mustard to more than 300 mom and pop delis throughout Western New York.
But their premier product, Weber’s Brand Horseradish Mustard, became the foundation for the company's notoriety. Some Buffalo natives may remember the Weber's slogan and musical jingle, “A Pickle in the Middle and Weber’s on Top.”
If you are new to Weber's - you may find it to be a cross between American yellow mustard, and traditional Düsseldorf German mustard, with the sweet-sour taste balanced by the addition of fiery horseradish. Buffalonians have been spreading this iconic brand on everything from hot dogs and bologna sandwiches, to burgers and deviled eggs.
Today, this family owned company continues the tradition of offering quality mustards, relishes, and olives from their Buffalo-based factory.
